Come to the People's Climate Bill Rally! Federation Mall: 12.30pm Sunday September 21st!

NB - We are now meeting at Federation Mall for a fantastic rally.

Climate Action Coogee Inc. initiated plans for cyclists to ride in support of the Climate Protection Bill in order to draw attention to the Bill and harness a groundswell of support. After finalising the Risk Warning for the ride (a requirement of the Civil Liability Act) in late July 2008 we have decided that the risks associated with cycling on public roads are unacceptably high for an event whose simple purpose is to draw attention to the Climate Protection Bill and climate change generally, and in the most positive way possible. We are fully in support of cycling as a sustainable transport method, but we don't want anyone to be at risk in this way in support of the Bill.

As a result Climate Action Coogee Inc. is cancelling the climate ride, and revoking its previous suggestion to cyclists and Bicycle User Groups to ride to Canberra to deliver the postcards. We understand that a number of Bicycle User Groups are still traveling to Canberra with their postcards by bike, but the organisers of the Climate Bill Rally are no longer involved in this in any way.

Instead, Climate Action Coogee Inc is inviting people to gather in Canberra at Federation Mall at the same time, that is:

Sunday 21st September,

Federation Mall, Canberra,

to deliver the 10 000 postcards to parliamentarians!

We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused BUGS and other riders, however we still, now more than ever, welcome your support of and participation in the People's Climate Bill Rally.

We have distributed 8000 postcards already and expect them all to come back to the Rally for delivery on the 21st - to order your postcards to get them signed and ready to bring to Canberra, click on the postcards link to the left.

Action on Climate Change is now more urgent than ever, and the Climate Protection Bill is the solution for Australia! Watch this space for details!
